MEET ANGEL.

Angel Fortner is a Project Superintendent in ºÚÁϳԹÏ's Mid-Atlantic Region. She brings 12 years of experience in construction, starting her career as a laborer. As a Project Superintendent, her responsibilitiesÌýinclude overseeing day-to-day operations in the field, problem-solving, managing subcontractors, helping coordinate schedules, and ensuring quality and safety on the jobsite.Ìý

• What inspired you to pursue a career in construction?
  "I was inspired to pursue construction because I love building and putting things together, working in a changing and challenging atmosphere, and the overall feeling of accomplishment I getÌýonce a project or task has been completed."

• What advice would you give to young women considering a career in construction?
  "I would tell them not to be afraid of the challenge or doing something they have never done before. You can link up with some great leaders and mentors in the construction field who will help teach you, train you, and truly care about your success. It's a very rewarding feeling to be building and facing new activities every day while defying the (long-forgotten) stereotype that this is not a woman's world."

• How do you see the role of women evolving in construction?
  "I see women evolving in construction bringing unique perspectives and ideas as well as a stronger sense of confidence. Women have great problem-solving skills and tend to be very attentive to detail, adding value to an industry that does best with a broad perspective."
